Ethics are the principles that guide an individual, group, or profession in conduct. Although Substance Abuse Counselors frequently make independent decisions regarding client treatment, they are still responsible to the profession of counseling, as a whole, in how those decisions are made. From the earliest concept of caring for someone who uses and abuses alcohol and other drugs (AOD), the proper behavior and conduct of a professional counselor has been closely scrutinized.
This continuing education course will discuss the basic principles of ethics as they apply to substance abuse counselors. An overview of the terminology used in course is explored.
